DESCRIPTION
A symbolic character of the Sixties and Seventies, Valentina has continued to reflect fashions and trends in the decades that followed. Her innovative, avant-garde style means that she is still as relevant as ever, even today. The complexity of the character, packed with subtleties and contradictions, is one of the keys to her success, so much so that many women have come to identify with her. Guido Crepax has always been careful to build a believable world around her. Her date of birth, ID card, romantic relationships, son, job, car, clothes, household objects: everything is real, a faithful reproduction of a possible everyday life.
Graphically speaking, this was all ingenious, artistic, unmistakeable, but making it three-dimensional is a whole other bag of cats – a real challenge, in fact. A challenge that Infinite Statue was glad to take on and the result is an unprecedented statue! Now Valentina has “taken shape” and, with all her sensuality and “non-colours”, she charms the viewer, much as she has always done for many years in drawings. Today, Valentina is no longer a dream, but a lady of great elegance and glamour.
