Although peaceful by nature, the Satyrs of Narnia nonetheless muster to form an efficient light infantry in Aslan’s army. Wearing light armour and carrying slim, curved swords, Satyrs take to the field of battle under their Lord’s red and gold banner, relying on their agility and speed. Though they desire nothing more than to live free in the lush Narnian forests, each is prepared to die fighting for their freedom, rather than see the tyranny of the White Witch continue. Design Maquettes are quick sculptures used to refine the design of a creature beyond drawings and paintings, allowing the concept to be realised in a three dimensional form.
The enclosed maquette is close to the final form the character takes in the film and has been cast directly off the original maquette used by Andrew Adamson and the Weta Workshop team during the design phase. The accompanying booklet provides a detailed story of the maquette’s design process.
