Originally sculpted as a gift for director Guillermo del Toro, the Santi with Bomb statue based on del Toro’s 2001 movie The Devil’s Backbone was later released as a highly exclusive statue by Sideshow Collectibles, limited to just 100 pieces. The sculpture sought to capture the hauntingly sorrowful expression of Santi, the ghostly ‘one who sighs’. Standing in the shadow of the unstable bomb, the juxtaposition of the innocent boy ghost with his blossoming head wound made for a beautifully disturbing piece of artwork.
