As a symbol of the United States of America, Sam takes his patriotism quite seriously – so seriously, that he has become the self-appointed patriotic watchdog of The Muppets. Always trying to ensure a program of high patriotic and cultural content, his efforts are usually futile and Sam watches the shows in disgust.
