Born on Takodana, Maz Kanata is a thousand-year-old, force-sensitive alien. Pirate smuggler, it is she who recovers Luke’s lost lightsaber on Bespin, which she then gives to Rey to finally join in the resistance when the First Order destroys her castle on her home planet.
