Who is Cyclops? Scott Summers became an introspective orphan after witnessing the apparent murder of his parents by Emperor D’Ken, a member of the Shi’ar Empire’s royal family. Escaping the orphanage run by the wicked Mr. Sinister after his mutant powers manifested, Scott was rescued by Professor Xavier, headmaster of a school designed to help mutants master their abilities. With the mission of fostering peaceful coexistence between humans and mutants, Xavier formed a task force called the X-Men, and Scott, under the codename Cyclops, became the group’s first student and most iconic field leader.
