Ayrton Senna (1960-1994) was a Brazilian Formula 1 driver. He won the world championship three times by racing for McLaren. In 10 years of Formula 1, he competed in 116 races, won 65 pole positions and won 41 competitions. He won the Monaco GP six times. It was called \”The King of Monaco\”. Ayrton Senna was born in São Paulo, on March 21, 1960. Son of a businessman in the metallurgical industry, at the age of four he won his first go-kart. At the age of seven, he started training at the Interlagos kart track in São Paulo. He won several titles racing in the Kart. He was São Paulo champion in the junior category, Brazilian champion and South American champion, in addition to the runner-up in the world in 1979 and 1980. In 1881 he starts in motorsport, in Formula Ford, and wins his first title. In 1982 he entered Formula 2000, he was the English and European champion. He entered English Formula 3 in 1883 and won the championship. Received proposals from McLaren, Williams, Brabham and Toleman teams. He signs with Toleman and in the second competition he wins his first point. In 1984, he took the podium at the British GP and the Portuguese GP. In 1985 he signed a contract with the Lotus team. Between 1985 and 1987 he participated in 48 grand prizes and won six. In 1987 he signed with McLaren-Honda and in 1988 he took the podium for the first time, as Formula 1 world champion, at the Japan in Suzuka. In 1989 he was the vice world champion. In 1990 he won his second world championship and in 1991, once again, he was the world champion. In 1994 he was hired by the Williams team. The first race of the 1994 season was in Interlagos, Brazil, where he took pole position, but was involved in a collision and left the race. Ayrton Senna da Silva dies in Ímola, Italy, on the 1st of May 1994, during the San Marino Grand Prix, when his car leaves the track at the Tamburello curve and hits the protective wall.
