Black Manta is the most emblematic enemy of the hero Aquaman. Known only by the name David, he is an African American mercenary and pirate who accidentally causes the death of Tom Curry, father of the King of the Seas, who in search of revenge by mistake kills David\’s father, also a murderer. For which they are mortal enemies.
He is remembered by many as a member of the Legion of Evil, an antagonistic group of the Justice League in the animated series SuperFriends in its 3rd season (1978). In the first solo film of the King of the Seas, the villain will be played by actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
