Figurine Isa, Passengers of the wind
The saga of The Passengers of the Wind began in 1979 in the N°18 issue of the French magazine Circus. Over the weeks, readers will meet Isa, Hoel, Mary and their companions. In 1980, even before the publication of the first album in bookshops, it is the consecration in Angoulême. The small world of comics then discovers a complete author: scenario, drawings and colors, François Bourgeon is the only master on board to tell us about this great historical fresco. The first cycle takes place in the 18th century and takes us on a journey to England, the kingdom of Dahomey and Santo Domingo. Since then, François Bourgeon has published two other cycles: La petite fille Bois-Caïman and Le Sang des cerises (Editions Delcourt). For the Isa figurine, it is more particularly in volume 4 that we went to seek inspiration. It was necessary to compose Isa’s attitude from different situations and illustrations to capture this moment “outside” the boards of the album. It is a real honor and a privilege that François Bourgeon gave us by trusting us to bring his heroine to life. His benevolent suggestions and advice accompanied us during all stages of the development of this project and in particular the work of sculpture carried out by David Arnould. Each figurine will be delivered with an ex-libris of an unpublished drawing specially made by François Bourgeon for the occasion and signed by his hand.
